Back 2 🏫🏫 College 🏫🏫! Quick Certificate... Now prep for the test is all that's left...💥
CURRENT STATUS OF MINE:
PURSUING MY CERTIFICATION IN PARALEGAL ASSISTING AT THE STATE COLLEGE OF FLORIDA AS I CARE FOR MY FOUR BOYS AND TRY TO MANAGE MY BILLS WITH NO CURRENT EMPLOYMENT...
Are you hiring an employee who might need a lot of flexibility but works hard? joke or maybe joke...
Currently, as a mother there are many scholarships out there and many that will pay you to go to school. I chose to try out The State College of Florida. Here at SCF there is a program to get a certification to be a paralegal. It takes about two years going at a normal pace. Note Summer B is fast paced... just a little learning experience to share there.
I am at the end of the program and had great funding in the beginning due to the Community Foundation of Sarasota; SCF Grant; and a little loan I took out. I really could have done without. However, being unemployed my situation called for it.
The Community Foundation of Sarasota has a website with great resources and opens most of their scholarships at the start of Fall. If you have a child that goes to surrounding elementary schools in Sarasota; there is a 2Gen scholarship that you should check out if you are wanting to go back to school or if you want to try a new path. I was able to be sponsored twice! Ringing in plenty for the full year and giving me extra to spend on my own living needs.
The application does require a person (the parent navigator) from your child's school to work with you and recommend you on their behalf. Also, you enter an essay in with the application. Each term is paid a little for three terms: Fall, Summer, and Spring. The other had the same essay to turn in but no need for school assistance and it is referred to the Mid Adult Year Scholarship. This one is a lump sum I received at the Fall term to apply throughout the year.
BREAKDOWN FOR GETTING COLLEGE TO PAY YOU
1. Classes are about 300-500 depending on whether there is an extra charge for things such as the computer access for the technology type formats.
2. There is only a requirement to take at least six credit hours which is usually two classes at 3 credits each. Some classes require an additional course as a supplement which is one credit; therefore, you need to have three classes to be over six credit hours and be considered part time placing you in good standing with loans and most scholarships.
3. That brings us to the books which SCF has affordable and smaller fee can allow you to just rent the book or have it as a digital version for the time of your class. Of course, you need to return the book in good condition!
4. Side notes here about books! You can sell them back but do not let anything happen to the book if you wish to do this. You will already be getting a deducted amount for it and any writing or ripped pages will not make the cut. SCF buys them back and then there are many websites online.
***SCF is easy to navigate on their online platform. I was able to complete the entire program, with four kids! I know you can go you want to!***
First: FAFSA.
Second: SCF Application or Another University
Third: Speak to Child's Parent Navigator at School
Fourth: Community Foundation Applications
Fifth: Check your email daily.
Sixth: Ask me if I can help, I will!
Most importantly do not plan on this being a means to pay your bills and not work because boy am I broke like no joke! The goal is to improve your life in the end with a better career that will allow you to be able to support your family.
As an adult there are more complications in life that block the college diplomas and/or certificates from being completed; however, finding a way to not pay and still go is a blessing.
And of course, idle hands are the devil's hands... Having more to do with your time is no crime, especially if it keeps your mind in full drive!
NEVER STOP LEARNING! Have you clicked my link for ALISON COURSES? Check it out while you digest all of this...
Sincerely,
Ames4U!
